Today in class we reviewed the various systems of government. Students were pretty clear on the various types, but were encouraged to read through brief descriptions (via handout) of those they were not familiar with. We had a good discussion about anarchy and if it could, or could not work. While some students feel it could, the argument clearly breaks down when we start talking about people who choose not to follow the social contract. What is the consequence - how is it meted out? Isn't that a form of Government?
Tonight's homework is to read the 4 pages of political philosophers on Actively Learn, and to make at least 3 connections or comments on EACH philosopher, for a total of 12. Students were encouraged to know a lot about these guys by tomorrow.
