Our period 3-4 block started off smoothly. Students were in their seats and were quiet, they transitioned from one item to the next successfully, with very little added direction from the teachers. We attribute this to it being the first day of school, and them being hungry.
Today was very much a "get to know you" day, with both Mr. Buker and myself spending a great deal of time talking about who we are, and where we come from. We talked about the Golden Circle, and each of our "why" for teaching. In addition, students made name tents that they need to keep for the next week or two, they talked about who they would like to have dinner with, and most importantly, they decided if they'd rather fight one horse-sized duck, or 100 duck-sized horses.
We also went over basic class expectations and handed out the syllabus.
All-in-all it seems like this hungry class of 9th graders are excited to be here, as are Mr. Buker and myself. I'm looking forward to a great year!
