Today we had some really great discussions about Jared Diamond's theory, and discussed if it was accurate or not. After those discussions died down, we moved on to some hearty discourse on cultural relativism and the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Students had great questions about these topics, ranging from "what if a country is not part of the UN and does not agree with the declaration?" to commenting that "many countries still have slavery, and in some, it's just changed form to be happening in corporations."
We will absolutely dig deeper on these issues as we move into civics, and I'm very excited to do so with this class!
I handed out a study guide for Friday's quiz (which can be found in the files section) and assigned homework.
DUE TOMORROW: Email Ms. Lloyd 5 kahoot questions and the corresponding multiple choice answers, including which answer is correct.
