Today started with me handing out the cumulative assessment for Life of Pi. This can be found in the files section. Next, we reviewed some fundamentals of characterization. What's direct, what's indirect? I had 6 suitcases (or bags) with clothes, books, etc. in them. Students selected one and wrote 1-2 paragraphs about a character, based on what they'd found in the bag. The requirements for the assignment can be found on the slideshow.
My expectation was that students would complete a rough draft today, and would move on to the final draft tomorrow, after reading the ActivelyLearn article about how to write strong characters.
